Types of Bridges
A bridge has two primary components: An abutment, and a pontic. An abutment (or support) for the bridge is created by placing a crown on a natural tooth or an implant, and the pontic is a synthetic tooth that replaces the missing tooth.
TRADITIONAL
There are two crowned abutment teeth that support the bridge, and the pontic is suspended between them.
IMPLANT-SUPPORTED
The pontic is attached to one or more dental implants.
CANTILEVER
Pontics are suspended from one side over empty spaces via a crowned abutment tooth.
MARYLAND
Resin composite cement is used to anchor the pontic to the neighboring teeth using wings.
